Katalyst recently partnered with Uncle Nearest in its efforts to raise $1.4 million to donate to HBCUs in 2024. The brand activation was to host events in local venues with the strategy of convening HBCU alumni chapter leaders to invite their members and engage those who support the cause of HBCUs.

The Cincinnati event was hosted at the Jester Bar and Cigar Patio on May 10th. Katalyst President Sean Rugless and DJ Nikki Suede served as celebrity guest bartenders alongside a guest DJ who set a vibe for the evening. The featured specialty cocktail was the Banana Foster’s Old Fashioned made with Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey. The proceeds went toward their HBCU scholarship fund that will in turn support participating institutions.

The event attracted over 150 people, with representation from over 15 HBCUs alongside Divine 9 organizations, and worked to build community by providing a networking event for alumni to reconnect to their institutions and colleagues, as well as an opportunity for the broader community to support a cause they believe in.

In this brand execution, the culture was represented.

Take a sip to life.
